The Talaris 3290FT Imagestation coupled the Talaris Wings (TM) controller architecture for document image printing with proven Ricoh 32 page per minute print engine. The 3290FT provides direct printing of TIFF files (and, optionally, FileNet compressed files) allowing fast imaging of documents with no host software conversion. Most image documents print at full engine speed using the standard i960 RISC imaging accelerator.

Direct printing of TIFF class B formatted files, including TIFF type 3 (CCITT group 3) and TIFF type 4 (CCITT group 4) compressed image files

Optional direct printing of FileNet compressed image files

Direct Ethernet printing from Novell IPX, TCP/IP, and DECnet as well as fast parallel printing via Centronics -- simultaneously

Variable scaling and 90-degree rotation can be done automatically, or via software command or control panel setting

Advanced paper handling selects the proper paper size for images including combinations of letter- and legal-size documents. Engineering drawings are automatically scaled to fit A- or B-size paper.

Talaris Automatic Emulation Switching (AES) selects TIFF, FileNet and eight other printing languages automatically, even when using host-generated banner pages preceding each file

Same-page printing of both TIFF and FileNet images, barcodes and other annotations using EXCL command language

Direct printing over Novell Ethernet or Centronics parallel of images via Windows High-Speed Print program
